But his emails…

Social media is abuzz with the proof of Donald Trump Jr’s collusion with Russian officials. He actually released the emails containing the proof on Twitter, but only because the New York Times was about to release content from the emails.

Don Jr and cohorts can’t dismiss the emails, no matter how hard they dance. Not when one of the emails contains:

Emin just called and asked me to contact you with something very interesting.

The Crown prosecutor of Russia met with his father Aras this morning and in their meeting offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.

This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump — helped along by Aras and Emin. (emph. added)

It doesn’t matter if the lawyer Don Jr met is an ‘official’ agent of the Russian government. All that matters is that Don Jr believed her to be an agent of the Russian government. In an email, she is referred to as a “Russian government attorney”. And Don Jr went to the meeting because he was promised dirt on Clinton.

If the future president’s elder son was surprised or disturbed by the provenance of the promised material — or the notion that it was part of a continuing effort by the Russian government to aid his father’s campaign — he gave no indication.

He replied within minutes: “If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer.”

I have to wonder at Don Jr committing such communication to emails. Especially considering how “But her emails…” became the major media theme of 2016.  So, colluding with a foreign government to impact on the election and not particularly bright, either.

The Trumps really are a sinkhole in the evolution of the human species.

If Don Jr didn’t break the law, he certainly fractured it. Whether he’ll be penalized is unknown at this time, but at a minimum, it is a major embarrassment and distraction for the Trump Administration.

Hopefully, a by-product of all of this is that the GOP health care plan dies a well-deserved death.  Unfortunately, it isn’t likely to slow the damage that the Trump administration is creating every single day.
