Aragonite

Size: 5.5 x 3.5 x 3.5 cm

longest crystal: 1.5 cm

Aragonite is a must have for every collection. It may be a valuable mineral, but its so pretty with the twinned crystal formation and the soft shades of color, such as this soft orange on faint colorless. This piece is a classic Aragonite, too. Can't get much better for a good representative speciman.

Barite Rose

Size: 5.5 x 5.0 x 3.0 cm

I put this as a novelty piece because I just don't know about it. It looks like a Barite Rose, and that's how I have it titled. I'm relatively confident of this. I'm just not sure about the glittery, sparkly material that coats the rose -- is it natural or not. It looks like it is, but I'm not an expert. Regardless, the rose portion of the speciman has very little damage to it, and the 'blades' form a nice overall shape.

This is one of the pieces I picked up at the Tucson Gem and Mineral show in 2001, in one of the side shows.

It was inexpensive and pretty. I believe I paid 5.00 for it.
