Fool You!

Recovered from the Wayback Machine.

My Alter Ego pure tech weblog started getting buzzzy and I figured I was getting link-love from someone. Sure enough a quick look at the referrers and I found this link at Scripting News, quoting my words:

“I will continue to beat you about the head on this issue until you ultimately bow to my superior knowledge on this subject.”

I had such at laugh at this, and I bet Dave did also. Here’s all these people hitting the site thinking I’m ripping Dave a new one, and instead I’m trashing UDDI — a subject that both Dave and I are in strong agreement on.

Fool you! Fool you!

Either a voice from above, or another Google Instant Message just came through:

calling burningbird do you read me come in burningbird

I hear you! I hear you calling me! Speak to me! Tell me, what is the truth!

To my weblogging friends: Whatever you do, don’t let your babies grow up to be writers.

Fangs and Necks

Recovered from the Wayback Machine.

To make matters worse, at a Highlander convention, these people are all carrying swords! Lord only knows what happens at Buffy tVS cons. I can guess, though, because Forever Knight was a show about vampires, and so there were a number of people running around Syndicon wearing fangs. It was the ones with the fangs … and the swords that really worried me.

You can tell, as you observe these people, which ones are just having fun and which ones have gone over the edge. There were a few too many over the edge for my comfort zone.

I found this at a beautiful weblog, From the Treetop, who also happens to exercise good judgement and excellent taste. Ahem.

I couldn’t agree more with Treetop: swords and fangs would worry me a bit, too.

Now, if you want to talk about fangs and necks…

Favorite Weblogs

Recovered from the Wayback Machine.

I was visiting my favorite weblogs this morning when I realized that I’m surrounded by an incredibly gifted group of people! Weblog after weblog, I found poetry and prose, humor and wit, irony and illumination; people sharing their lives and their interests simply and with grace and style.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt more privileged in my life than to know that these people take time out from their busy days to read what I have to write. What a gift I’ve been given, and it’s given every single day. Every single day.

Victor Echo Zulu

Recovered from the Wayback Machine.

A weblogging newcomer Victor Echo Zulu, who already demonstrates good weblogging practice (multiple posts throughout the day), has one of the best responses I’ve seen on a tedious squabble we all, unfortunately, know too well.

Huh? What kind of community have I joined?

Victor, every community has its dirty secrets and this tiresome battle is one of them. Ignore it, concentrate on the fun, and next thing you’ll know you’ll be hooked liked the rest of us. Welcome to weblogging!

(Stop by and say hello. Bring him a pie.)

Thanks to Jonathon and Garth for introducing us to Victor.

<edit /> Calling Victor Echo Zulu! Calling Victor Echo Zulu! Add the email thingy to your site. Over?

<edit /> Victor now has email enabled – send him a hello.
